Tourism is one of the major industries that countries across the world are promoting. Tourism as such is very helpful in generating local employment at the same time bring valuable foreign exchange for developing economies. Most of the international travellers are from developed countries who have been travelling to various parts of the world for leisure, adventure or spirituality.
According to the World Tourism Organisation’s World Tourism Barometer for year 2012, France recorded the maximum international tourism arrivals at 83 million followed by United States with 67 million tourists.
China and Malaysia are the only two countries that made to the top 10 list. China came 3rd with 57 million international tourists in 2012 and Malayisa came 10th with 25 million tourists in the same year.
Other major countries in the Top 10 list includes Spain with 57 million, followed by Italy with 46 million, and Turkey with 34 million, Germany with 30 million, United Kingdom with 29 million, and finally at number 9th position Russia with 22 million international tourists a year in 2012.
